It was late. The sun had disappeared hours ago, casting a light glow from the moonlight, across the alley.
She wasn’t scared, but she was feeling the first signs of doubting herself. She knew better than being out in the night late and alone. Her mother had taught her the dangers of the city over and over again…so why was she not listening, especially now.
Because she had a gentle soul… a caring soul… she trusted people. She hated when her mother looked down on people, always judging them. Why was she always judging? After all, people were good… weren’t they?
Perhaps this was true or maybe it’s just from the mind of a thirteen year old girl.
Lost in her own thoughts, she didn’t hear the footsteps sneaking up behind her. Seconds before, she had decided to turn around and go home… consumed with her mother’s voice in her head.
“Hello.”
But it was too late. He stood there, in front of her, staring down at her, as if she were his prey.
All the blood drained from her face, as her breath caught in her throat.
“Shit!” Was all she could think to say.

Happily ever after…
I could still be married…
I could be laying next to my husband of twenty-nine years….I could not be alone.
I had the perfect life, planned out since I was six years old. After all, isn’t that what society teaches little girls…when you grow up, you will fall in love with your Prince Charming, just like Cinderella, get married, and live happily ever after in your big house, two kids, a dog, two cars, and the white picket fence.
As funny as it sounds, I had that life.
But the part they forgot to tell us, us little girls…is the part that what you see on the outside, isn’t always what is going on in the inside. Prince Charming is inattentive, neglectful, and flat-out mean. He hurts you in more ways than you would like to admit to anyone…including your self.
“But I love him!” You say. “And he loves me…doesn’t he?”
Then slowly, day by day, your fairy tale turns into a nightmare. He takes everything you have to give, leaving behind, only an empty shell. He took the best of you.
Like I said, I could be married, like my girlfriends who have been married just as long as I. Subsequently, I am the one who made the decision to get out…to live again. That is probably why it was such a hard decision because it was my decision…I didn’t want it to end, but I couldn’t live like that either….not anymore.

inSigns are all around us…
Have you ever heard of the saying, “There are signs all around us?” Of course we have, but how much merit to do we really put towards this saying…
Today started out like any other day, but it started to go down hill quickly by mid-morning. Lately I’ve been at a cross-road in my life. Both romantically and financially. My career as a writer is at a stand-still, but I’m keeping my head up; starting up a new book. This is always a journey…the ideas for the new story are in your head, but putting it down on paper, leads to somewhat of a challenge.
Needless to say, I was starting to doubt myself….I decided to get up and get some fresh air, when I saw something glistening on the floor in my office. I bent down to see what it was and picked it up. It was a pin. It read, “Make it happen.” Make it happen, I thought. How perfect!
I don’t know how this pin got there, but I took it as a sign. Don’t get frustrated with your current situation and give up, but make it happen!

Gently stirring, but not fully awake or even ready to wake up for the day, Jamie wondered. It was only five in the morning, but yet birds were up and singing. She didn’t only hear one soft melody, but an entire orchestra of magical music. It was simply amazing.
These little wonders in the world is what made life so precious, Jamie thought, yawning.
Happiness enveloped her, but not too soon. Just as quickly, she remembered. Her stomach grumbled. Her head ached. As quickly as the bliss had circuited her, it just as slowly began to disappear like a soft flowing breeze.
