Excerpt from Manuscript – Snow

photo (12)

The first snow of the year. The air was crisp with the hint of winter, causing her breath to catch in her throat, but yet so pure, allowing her thoughts to drift into promises she had told yourself, but had not kept.

January wrapped her leather coat tightly around her. Although she was cold, she had the softest warmth radiating around her. She was at peace. She knew she had done the right thing.

She knew she had hurt Jack…Christ, it had hurt her too, but she knew he deserved to know the truth. The truth was freeing because it allowed her the freedom to be honest with not only herself, but with him.

However, she was still haunted by his eyes, the disturbing contour of his face as she had told him.

Her only concern was where to go from here.

He had always been strong, but she was worried for him because she knew that he would have a hard time. After all, he was an addict and addicts weren’t good with dealing with change.

She knew they would have to change everything about their life. She would be in and out of hospitals for the next couple of months. This would put a definite toll on their marriage.

But she was confident in the strength of their relationship, after all, they had over come his addiction…

Jumping, January turned, startled by the sound of the opening of the front door.

“Jack…”

“Sweetheart…I am so sorry I left you…I’m home now and I will never leave you again.” Jack pulled her into his chest, tightly holding her, gently smoothing back her hair from her face as his tears fell.

RAINBOW FALLS – MAMMOTH LAKE CALIFORNIA

october-2016-241

To live life, is to live in the present.

The past remains in our memories,

The future strives in our dreams,

But the present is our existence.

The Lost Diary of Jane Doe

october-2016-201

To love someone is to be vulnerable,
vulnerability is raw.

Simplicity of love is to love completely,
but love is one-sided.

Love someone deeply,
but they don’t love you the same.

Or do we simply accept the person who loves us,
therefore, not loving them passionately back by being shielded.

Love is risk,
protecting our heart means not loving back.

Can two people love each other at the same time,
Or is it one-sided.

Complete and passionate love are both hearts uniting into one.
never one broken.

Dear Paxton

Humboldt County 03_edited-1

Lisa grabbed the beer, placing it to her lips, swallowing the bitter liquid. She had to concentrate, not to think about the distaste she had for the beer. She sat down, letting out the loudest burp ever to escape her lips.

“There! I did it.” She was really proud of her accomplishment. Keith and Ricky seemed proud too, handing her another Miller Genuine Draft.

“Ricky, let me have a drag of your cigarette.” Lisa took a hit. He had that inquisitive look again.

“What?” She asked.

“I didn’t know you smoked.” He said taking a long drag.

“I don’t. But, I just feel like being one of the boys tonight.” She sat back to relax.

“Lisa, you are too cool.” Keith was stunned.

Ricky tried to teach Lisa how to blow rings with the cigarette smoke. She tried and tried, laughing out loud with the pure lucidity of the evening.

“Shhhh… Don’t laugh so loud.”

“Sorry, Keith.” Lisa looked over at Ricky raising her eyebrows.

He rolled his eye, twirling his finger around in a circle next to his head. Lisa couldn’t help but burst out laughing again. She was feeling a little drunk.

“Shhhh….” This only made her laugh harder until she could hardly breathe, breaking into an asthma attack.

“Shhh… Quiet! I don’t want the neighbors to call the cops.” Keith was definitely paranoid.

“Shut up Keith! I can’t help it if I have to cough….. I have asthma.” She started coughing uncontrollably again.

“Shhhh…”

“Keith, leave her alone. She can’t help it if she has to cough.” Ricky defended her.

“I don’t want the cops to be called. If you guys don’t be quiet, then leave.” Keith was bugging her.

“Don’t be so paranoid, Keith.” Lisa lay back against the couch feeling the room spin under her.

“I don’t feel too good.” She said standing up. “Where’s the bathroom?”

“Lisa, are you ok?” Ricky took hold of her arm walking her over to the small, unsanitary bathroom in the back of the disarray bedroom. Lisa didn’t care that the toilet smelled of urine, sitting down on the floor, resting her head on the cool toilet seat. The coolness felt good on her clammy forehead.

Excerpt from Manuscript – SNOW

img_5842

Autumn, a time when the leaves changed from green to yellow to orange and then red. The days were warm in the mornings, as the nights escaped into the most certain chill.

This time of year had always been January’s favorite. Moving to San Francisco had been his idea, but now that she had warmed up to it, she too loved the quaint city with all its undying charm.

Standing out on their balcony, with her faux-fur coat wrapped around her body, fighting to keep her warm, but desperately failing, she watched the city lights flicker in the distance. Jack seemed to be spending more and more time away from their home and from her.

She perniciously had too much time on her hands to think. She didn’t like when her mind drifted over to the darker side, but it had been hard not to lately.

She missed him so much that her heart ached. She knew in her heart that she was losing him, but she couldn’t compete with this. She had to let him go, but she didn’t know if she had the courage to do so.

She had always hated that stupid saying, “If you love someone set them free and if they are yours to keep, they will come back to you.”

“Dumb saying.” She thought, despairingly wiping away the tears.

A Monster Under My Bed

img_3457

I tell her I’m getting better…well I was getting better.

Is it a lie when you want it to be true, but some how you fail, is it?

I tell her it will be okay, as I lay in my bed, late at night, gently rubbing my finger tips over the scars.

She asks me why I do it…I told her emotional pain is heavier on the soul than physical.

She just looked at me with a blank stare.

I knew she didn’t understand.

That’s okay…I understand.

Excerpt from Manuscript – A Ruby in the Rough

Sitting at the piano bench in an elegant white dress, with her blonde hair freely cascading down her back, sat Jewels or was it Kate?

He rubbed his eyes, trying to regain his composure. He had surely thought he had seen a ghost.

Subsequently, when he refocused, he was certain it had been Jewels and not a ghost at all.

PITBULL AWARENESS MONTH

fullsizerender

Bowzar is my third Staffordshire Bull Terrier (Pitbull). He, has been and is one of the kindest soul.

Pitbulls are very loyal, smart, loving, and tolerant creatures, and with this in mind, their owners too, must be responsible, loving and kind-hearted people. Cruel and mean dog owners must not match up with this breed or any breed or animal, for that matter. After all, any dog that let’s you dress him up in human clothes is gentle and good.

Bowzar will be ten years old tomorrow, October 2nd. HAPPY BIRTHDAY BOWZ!

Let’s stop animal cruelty and the banning of pitbulls in Montreal!
