NINE LIVES

nine-lives-jcw-02-19-2016

I just found this poem Jewels wrote, she wrote last February 2016. I think it’s probably one of the saddest of them all, but such a great insight into the mind of someone suffering from depression:

JCW

NINE LIVES

One:
Full of happiness
Giggles and laughter
Innocence is not lost

Two:
A new friend today
I am still young
Pure like clouds

Three:
Adolescence
Not all is happy
My smile is still big

Four:
You fill me with joy
Pure joy
I am happy

Five:
Gone, just like that.
I’m so confused-
Why am I getting so many chances?

Six:
Torn, ripped
Broken and bruised
Innocence is lost

Seven:
Happiness is gone
Let me give up
I’m so, so tired.

Eight:
Shaking, like I’m freezing
Can’t do this much longer.
Why’s life unfair?

Nine:
Damaged.
Nothing but bad memories.
I miss life one.

FINALLY, I AM DEAD.

I Said I Did

you said you were fine,
When I asked if you were okay.
I didn’t believe you,
but I said I did.

You said you were cold,
When I asked why you always wore jackets.
I didn’t believe you,
but I said I did.

You said you were sick,
When I asked why you went to a hospital.
I didn’t believe you,
but I said I did.

You said you cared,
When I asked if you did.
I didn’t believe you,
but I said I did.

Now you’re gone,
Dead for good.
I knew I shouldn’t have believed you.
I SHOULDN’T OF SAID I DID.

INSIDE THE MIND OF A 14-YEAR OLD – DEPRESSION KILLS

arcata-ca-july-2016-073

JCW 11/26/2016

DAYDREAMS

I like to imagine a different world,
one where I can smile

One where I won’t be curled
up in bed for a long while

This place is happy and has rainbows
filled with flowers and blue skies

Sun so bright, it glows
there are no questions or whys

And I like to think I’m happy
an environment I can’t be sad

No movies or books would be sappy
cause all I’ll be is glad.

Sadly this new world isn’t real
I am stuck behind a wall, unable to heal

The Coffin

img_6100

Oh how life hurts and death falls
Life is too fast

She now wears deaths shawl

And an old man in a somber cast

She passed with relief
Because the old man knew she wouldn’t last

Her life crumpled like a dead leaf
Oh how life goes so fast

Said the old man in disbelief…

The coffin was as silent as its past

The man was in grief
He was in a somber cast

Excerpt from Manuscript – Snow

photo (12)

The first snow of the year. The air was crisp with the hint of winter, causing her breath to catch in her throat, but yet so pure, allowing her thoughts to drift into promises she had told yourself, but had not kept.

January wrapped her leather coat tightly around her. Although she was cold, she had the softest warmth radiating around her. She was at peace. She knew she had done the right thing.

She knew she had hurt Jack…Christ, it had hurt her too, but she knew he deserved to know the truth. The truth was freeing because it allowed her the freedom to be honest with not only herself, but with him.

However, she was still haunted by his eyes, the disturbing contour of his face as she had told him.

Her only concern was where to go from here.

He had always been strong, but she was worried for him because she knew that he would have a hard time. After all, he was an addict and addicts weren’t good with dealing with change.

She knew they would have to change everything about their life. She would be in and out of hospitals for the next couple of months. This would put a definite toll on their marriage.

But she was confident in the strength of their relationship, after all, they had over come his addiction…

Jumping, January turned, startled by the sound of the opening of the front door.

“Jack…”

“Sweetheart…I am so sorry I left you…I’m home now and I will never leave you again.” Jack pulled her into his chest, tightly holding her, gently smoothing back her hair from her face as his tears fell.

Excerpt from Manuscript – A Ruby in the Rough

Sitting at the piano bench in an elegant white dress, with her blonde hair freely cascading down her back, sat Jewels or was it Kate?

He rubbed his eyes, trying to regain his composure. He had surely thought he had seen a ghost.

Subsequently, when he refocused, he was certain it had been Jewels and not a ghost at all.

Julian’s Voice: A Ruby in the Rough:

Ms Mandi Photo 1

Hysterically, Jewels cried when she found out the news. They said they had found over twenty different pills in her system.

The County had chalked it up as, she had simply forgotten how many pills she had really taken. In addition, they had found alcohol in her system.

This too surprised Kate.

Mona was dead.

Missing you…

Missing you…

Ms Mandi Photo 1

Chasing balls, swimming in the lake, or a simple snuggle on the couch…there is nothing more pure than a pet’s love.

As with any living creature, we find that our time is precious and limited on this earth.

Grey hair and slowing down start its descend.

Time will quickly pass and before we know it, it will be time to say goodbye.

But don’t be sad my love…I will see you again…in a better place than this.

Suddenly, she was stunned back into reality, as she heard the front door slam shut.  She bolted towards the hallway, not caring about what little she was wearing.  From the railway, at the end of the hall, she could see Eric standing outside of his running truck, two-stories below her.  Cole hadn’t approached the vehicle, except that Eric had sensed a presence from above, as he looked up directly to where Lisa was standing.  He looked boldly into her tear-streaked face.  He stood silently for a moment, locked in the thought before Cole approached him, throwing his blue duffle bag into the cab of the white beat-up 1970 For.

Cole noticed Eric’s gaze towards the landing, noticing Lisa.  He smiled slightly, raising his hand to say goodbye.  Lisa wasn’t about to return the sarcastic gesture.  She didn’t wave, she didn’t want to say anything at all.   She was too tired.  All she coud do was to stand there, her hand frozen onto the handrail, too scared to move.  She was terrified.  What would her future look like without the only man she had ever loved?  He was her future.  How could he just leave her behind like that?  He was acting as if he was just going to the store of that she had never really meant anything to him at all.  They had history behind them; why had he dismissed it so easily?  She didn’t understand.  She realized that noting mattered to her without Cole in her life.

She wanted to die.  “Please God, let me die!”  She prayed out loud.  She meant it too, with every ounce of her soul.

In sadness, she watched Eric and Cole pull away from the curb, heading towards the busy street.  A deep, angry strength suffocated her existence as she visualized God.  She wouldn’t die because God wouldn’t have been that kind.  God was a cruel God and angry God.

Lisa would live.  She would be left alone to live in hell.  She would be like this for a long, long time.  God had taken her out of heaven and had sent her to hell.
