Early Morning Bliss…
Ms Mandi Photo 1

Gently stirring, but not fully awake or even ready to wake up for the day, Jamie wondered. It was only five in the morning, but yet birds were up and singing. She didn’t only hear one soft melody, but an entire orchestra of magical music. It was simply amazing.

These little wonders in the world is what made life so precious, Jamie thought, yawning.

Happiness enveloped her, but not too soon. Just as quickly, she remembered. Her stomach grumbled. Her head ached. As quickly as the bliss had circuited her, it just as slowly began to disappear like a soft flowing breeze.

Why Do We Write?

Why do writers write?

We write to express ourselves.
We write to tell our personal stories.
We write because we are bored.
We write to teach others.
We write to help others.
We write because we want to be the next Stephanie Meyers.
We write because we don’t know what else to do.
We write because we are writers and that’s what writers do.

The Fight is Half the Battle

The Fight is Half the Battle…

Ms Mandi Photo 1

Do we fight harder to keep something we love or do we fight harder to get out of something we hate?

I believe that when gifts are handed to us, it is easier to ease up on the fight until a more convenient time comes around.

However, when push comes to shove and we are fighting for our very survival and what is rightfully ours, then our instincts tend to come out with our claws…fighting harder for what we cherish closest to our hearts.

Can We Find A Cure for Alzheimer’s Disease

Alzheimer’s Disease

Ms Mandi Photo 1

If anyone is looking to watch a great movie….I recommend “Still Alice”.  It’s a beautifully written movie about a college Professor who develops Alzheimer’s Disease.  It’s a touching story of one woman’s struggles, while losing her memory and eventually her mind.  She has a rare form of the disease that is genetically carried on to her children.

I can personally relate to her story because my grandmother developed the disease when she was in her sixties.  It’s very sad to watch, as a most intelligent mind starts to forget even the simplest task, such as trying finding their bathroom in their own home. They know their  minds are deteriorating, but there is nothing they can do but try to cover it up.

If you or someone you know is severing with Alzheimer’s Disease, please feel free to comment here.  The more we can talk about it, the more we can find a cure to this horrible disease.

Why do I miss you?

Ms Mandi Photo 1

I miss our late night talks.

I miss how you used to tell me I was beautiful.

I miss how you would look at me with a smile in your eyes.

I miss my best friend.

I miss holding your hand.

I miss your soft kisses.

But I don’t miss your mean spirit.

Love is about how you feel about yourself while you are with that special person, if you are broken then you can not love.

The Whaley House

The Whaley House…

The Whaley House is in Old Downtown San Diego. It is a must see! First of all San Diego is just beautiful and very historical. There is a lot of old history to be known about it. Since it is right on the border, back in the day people from Mexico would take boats and ships to San Diego to visit the land of the free.

Sadly enough, many of these decendents were held in slavery by the rich plantation owners. This brought about many deaths and termoil, soiling the land with despair and pain.

The land where the Whaley House now stands use to be a hanging sight. Too many men to count were hung on the very sight and without just cause.

Mr. Whaley knew this fact, but built his home on the tainted land anyway. He later rented out his parlor to the County of San Diego to use as their court house. Needless to say, this created more tension in the home, as more deaths occurred in the home over the years.

If you love a piece of history and mystery, then you must visit the Whaley House. It is both majestic and artistic. But don’t forget to take your camera….you never know what you might see in the lens.

Hiking to Lone Pine Lake

Hiking Mt. Whitney…

photo (8)

A friend of mine asked me to go on a short hike to see Lone Pine Lake. For those that don’t know where Lone Pine Lake is…it’s in Lone Pine, CA. Where is Lone Pine, you ask…about four hours east of Orange County in the Sierra Mountains.

I have visited Lone Pine for years and have not visited Lone Pine Lake. My friend said it was a little hike to get to the lake. I was game. It sounded fun. I hike all the time. Boy was I in for a challenge.

Lone Pine Lake is about three hours up the mountain to Mt. Whitney. As we hiked, I saw other hikers with hiking apparel; such as, proper boots and walking sticks. I started to get worried as I wore my Doctor Martens and skipped breakfast. But I was ready for the hour hike…so my friend told me.

Two hours into the hike and straight up the ten thousand elevation mountain…I started to wonder how and if there was really a lake. I could not see where a lake could possibly be since we were hiking up the side of the mountain towards Mt. Whitney.

Two and half hours into the hike, my blisters were bleeding. My stomach was screaming with hunger and my patience had run out. I wanted to turn around because don’t forget…if it took us three hours to get up the mountain, it would take us another three to get back down.

As I was about to turn around…admitting to complete failure…I saw it. The beautiful and majestic lake. I couldn’t believe my eyes. It was one of the most breathtaking views I have encountered. Did it make up for the bleeding blisters, hunger pains, weak legs, aching knees, and full bladder….maybe not, but it was worth it…

Visiting Humboldt County – Arcata

Visiting Humboldt County – Arcata
Ms Mandi Photo 1

I have wanted to travel, but either I couldn’t find the time or I didn’t have the money. As I get older I see how important it is to go out and see new things and visit new places. Although, I have to admit that I am a creature of habit and tend to journey into familiar territory and Arcata, California in Humboldt County is one of my favorite spots.

This is the land of the Redwoods. Life is simple. Life is pure. The air is clean. What I like best about visiting Humboldt County is the beauty of the Redwoods next to the tranquility of the sandy beaches. It is truly majestic and quite breathtaking.

Issues Facing People with Facial Differences

Issues Facing People with Facial Differences

Ms Mandi Photo 1

As a society, we have become more aware of bullying. There is cyber-bullying and everyday bullying. We have had this issue in the past, but today it has been more focused on and brought out for our awareness. We may listen to the stories with a sad heart, but how can we do something about it?

What happens when bullying plays a counter-part with facing people with facial differences? We stare, point, and say mean things under our breath. Such as, “Poor thing”, “I wonder what happened to her?” “How sad”. Our intentions aren’t bad, but it is still mean.

I’m not talking about children, but adults. We have all said it or at least thought it. However, we need to learn to accept people with differences. It is our responsibility as parents, mentors, and teachers to teach our own children to be kind. Just as we teach therm not to judge others by the color of their skin…we also need to teach them not to judge others by their differences.

We all hurt and love the same, so don’t judge. Kindness can go a long way.
