I wonder if this is how she felt…

Everyday is a constant struggle just to stay alive, nothing makes your happy, tired of trying to be happy, can’t imagine this dull pain inside your heart forever…with the hopelessness.

The feeling that you are all alone even though you know you have people who dearly love you.

There is help and you are not alone

SIBLINGS…

SISTERS 07.2015

When a child dies, especially to suicide and so young, everyone seems to focus on the parents, and their pain and sorrow, and especially the mother’s anguish.

However, sometimes there are siblings who are forgotten. They too have a special kind of loss.

She has lost their best friend.

Who will she share their future memories?

Who will she call late at night when she just needs someone there to listen to her and to laugh with her?

Who will be her Maid of Honor at her wedding?

Who will she call with the great news that she will be an aunt?

Who will she roll her eyes at during Thanksgiving dinner when annoying family members show up at the door?

Who will she talk to about “Remember when’s…”?

Who will she share her memories? And who will she create new memories?

This is especially hard when she is now the only child.

When a sibling dies, all future special occasions will be forever changed.

We, as parents and support groups, must remember their grieving process because when a sibling dies, they lose a part of their past, present and future.

Here is a support group, chat site, for siblings grieving a loss of a sibling:

I’ve never suffered from depression, but I wonder if this is how she felt:

Everyday is a constant struggle just to stay alive, nothing makes your happy, tired of trying to be happy, can’t imagine this dull pain inside your heart forever…with the hopelessness.

The feeling that you are all alone even though you know you have people who dearly love you.

If this is what depression is…I can’t even image living like this everyday…

I Said I Did

By: JCW
11/26/2016

you said you were fine,
When I asked if you were okay.
I didn’t believe you,
but I said I did.

You said you were cold,
When I asked why you always wore jackets.
I didn’t believe you,
but I said I did.

You said you were sick,
When I asked why you went to a hospital.
I didn’t believe you,
but I said I did.

You said you cared,
When I asked if you did.
I didn’t believe you,
but I said I did.

Now you’re gone,
Dead for good.
I knew I shouldn’t have believed you.
I SHOULDN’T OF SAID I DID.

INSIDE THE MIND OF A 14-YEAR OLD – DEPRESSION KILLS

DAYDREAMS

I like to imagine a different world,
one where I can smile

One where I won’t be curled
up in bed for a long while

This place is happy and has rainbows
filled with flowers and blue skies

Sun so bright, it glows
there are no questions or whys

And I like to think I’m happy
an environment I can’t be sad

No movies or books would be sappy
cause all I’ll be is glad.

Sadly this new world isn’t real
I am stuck behind a wall, unable to heal

EXCERPT FROM SNOW

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

The last few days had been anything but perfect, maybe perfect was too strong of an adjective, the last few days had been more than exhausting.

January closed her eyes for a moment, reflecting back on their conversation. It hadn’t gone well, with Jack storming out of their high-rise apartment.

This had been more than two days ago and she still had not heard from him. She knew he would be mad, but he was more than mad, he had been furious.

She remembered when they had first visited the city of San Francisco, now their home. She and Jack had just gotten married. He had applied to the city as an Engineer, just on a whim, not really expecting to get the job, but he had.

She couldn’t have asked for a better life, now that Jack was clean. But now it seemed their perfect, picturesque life had shattered into a million different pieces.

Tears slowly spilled down her face, as she quietly opened her eyes. It was a dreary, over-cast day, but when wasn’t it over-cast in the city.

Looking across the bay, she watched as the tour boat took the nostalgic guests across the ocean and over to the Rock…Alcatrass, making her ponder…had she made the right decision telling Jack. Only time would tell.

“Please Jack, come home to me.” She whispered.

SNOW

IMG_4487

Dear Diary:

Casually watching my foot steps leaving the softest of impressions in the sand, making me ponder over my life and the choices I had made. I had been called co-dependent before, but hadn’t fully understood the meaning behind it. Surely, I wasn’t the one with the problem. I wasn’t the addict.

I was normal, I had followed all the rules. I was a good girl, growing up in a well-to-do family in the suburbs, eating most my vegetables, attending church on Sundays, not talking back to my elders, graduating from high school and eventually graduating from college with honors and two Masters’ Degrees to show for all my hard work. I was the one following all the rules. I am not the one with the problem.

But, today my therapist told me a different ending. I was just like the addict, I was addicted to covering up for the addict. I was trying to save him. I loved him and to be honest with myself, I loved him more than I loved me. Just like an addict loves their drug of choice more than themselves, more than their wife, more than their mother, and more than their children. They would die for their addiction, just like I would have died for you.

But I’m not the addict, you are.

January set down her pen, reaching for the box of tissues, as the tears streamed down her face. Today had been one of the hardest days of her life and probably ever to come again. She had to say good-bye to Jack, he would kill her if she let him. He was drowning and pulling her down into the current with him.

But she was a survivor, she was stronger than he. She had the will to fight and gain back the control she had relinquished on the day she had accepted his drug addiction, thinking she could save him and not knowing she couldn’t, but no more. She wanted to live and she knew now that she must face these demons on her own and without Jack.

NO TLC

Kalaheo, Kauai, HI 11.2016

I’m like a flower.
You picked me
and you loved me,
but after a while,
you forgot to water me
and I was dying, literally,
for you to come back.
To give me some water,
but I started wilting…
and you finally noticed
that you forgot about me,
but now, though,
I was lifeless, dead.
So you threw me away.

Excerpt from Manuscript – Dear Paxton

Dear Paxton
Ms Mandi Photo 1

She was so excited to see his precious face that she could hardly stand to sit in the truck for another moment.  Quickly, she rolled down her window to get some fresh air when she saw him standing outside waiting.

He was standing next to a white wooded garage, kicking gravel around, while biting down on his lower lip.  He looked preoccupied and incredibly sexy, standing there, wearing a heavy army jacket and smoking a cigarette.  His hair was quite a bit longer than the last time she had seen him, but he looked the same, only better.  His face was relaxed and unshaven.  He looked so innocent and vulnerable, but she knew him better than that.

Her feelings where mixed.  He had loved her so much, but had hurt her so deeply at the same time.  They had only known each other for two years, but she had experienced so much pain with this man.  Her heart was still mending, but now that she saw him, all the love she had pushed aside came rushing back with full force.

Tom had barely turned into the gravel driveway before Lisa was out of the truck, flying into Cole’s arms.  Oh, the strength in those arms was incredible.  All the memories came rushing back.  Their lips met, melting her heart.  He kissed her with full force.

He had also pushed back his feelings for her.  He had missed her deeply, but he was good at pushing aside his emotions, out-of-the-way when they became bothersome.  Seeing her now brought all the emotions he had forgotten, flooding back into reality and into his opened heart.

Tears sprang to his eyes, spilling out onto his checks.  Her face was wet with tears too, kissing away all the pain they both had felt.

“Oh Lisa, I have missed you so much.  Thank you for coming to see me.”

Kindness Goes a lot Further than Anger

Kindness goes a lot further than anger…

Ms Mandi Photo 1

I am healing. My soul was suffocated with denial. At one time my heart was filled with anger. The anger turned to sadness. Finally I started the process of acceptance. I now feel the final transition of the healing process – forgiveness.

When I was working in cosmetics, many years ago, I was lucky enough to meet a wonderful mentor and teacher. As a beauty adviser, we were invited to the Four Seasons’ Hotel in Newport Beach for a day of training and a fabulous luncheon.

I’ll call her, Miss Lucy and she was our teacher for the day. She was a licensed Esthetician. She was very posed and glamorous. I will never forget what she taught us.

She told us that we would meet mean people in this world and at the counter, very mean people. What is human nature when we feel attacked? Our first instinct is to strike back. However, Miss Lucy told us never to do this.

Her quote: “Mean and angry people are wounded people. The mean are the ones we need to be extra nice too for they are the most wounded.”

I did encounter several mean people at the cosmetic counter, as well as during my lifetime. I now smile at them and make sure to be especially nice. They may not get anything out of my kindness, but my heart feels light and full.

The lesson is that you will feel happier when you spread your kindness around and not your anger. Forgiveness and healing go along way and although you may not know it, you possibly made a difference in their day as well.
