I Married a Psycho Series

Ms Mandi Photo 1

“Bella are you packed…”

“Yes, Mama…Mama the phone is ringing.”

“Sweetie will you please grab it for me…I’m out on the porch.”

“Hello, Daddy. Why not… okay, I will go and get her.”

“Mama, it’s Daddy, he wants to talk to you.”

“Jack, when will you be home…Bella and I are ready and waiting for you. What do you mean you’re in Twin Pines…I thought you were at work and then coming home to pick us up…we are all supposed to go there together…as a mini vacation. Or did you forget!”

“Mama, don’t cry.”

“Hysterical…I’m not being hysterical. I can’t believe you went without us. How could you and what am I supposed to tell Bella, Jack!”

I looked over towards the doorway. All was silent now. My heart broke, as I watched my only daughter, as tears as big as crocodiles, spilled down her cheeks.

Daddy’s Little Girl…

Daddy’s Little Girl…

Ms Mandi Photo 1

I always wondered why I have such poor choice in men. I seem to choose men that are unattainable and damaged. The typical bad-boy.

I now know why I have unhealthy relationships…I was always Daddy’s little girl. He loved me more than life and I loved him just as much. However, the divorce ruined everything. He moved out…never looking back.

That day, he not only divorced my mom, but he also divorced me…his own daughter.

He never loved me the same again, after the day he walked out on us. We grew apart and now as adults, we have no connection. He intimidates me and I disappoint him.

Why do I choose bad-boys…perhaps it’s because I’m looking for that fatherly figure to love me…as much as I love them. The sad part is that I am loving men that can’t love me back. In theory, it is because I don’t feel I am worthy of love…perhaps.

However, I will not give up on finding the one person that loves me as much as I love them. Love is a gift and we all deserve to find it.

Happy Valentines Day!

Early Detection is Important

Early Detection is Important…

Ms Mandi Photo 1

I have several friends recently, who have been diagnosed with some form of cancer. Sadly to say, one of them only recently died this Friday. She opted out to have chemotherapy and radiation, since her cancer had spread from her lungs, intertwining around her spine. The doctors gave her six months to live…after diagnosed. I think she made it to five months.

Cancer is a monster that overtakes your body and consumes your soul.
Early awareness and early detection is so important. Trust your body to tell you when something is wrong. Research your symptoms. Reach out to others for insight. Don’t always trust what your doctors tell you…dismissing it as nothing. Find out the facts and get a second opinion…or a third.

Knowledge is power! Let’s put a stop to this monster once and for all, before it continues to take more lives.

Keeping your Roots…

Ms Mandi Photo 1

Life can derail us off our track of focus. When this happens, we must get back to our roots.

Roots can mean different things for different people. Losing one’s roots may stifle our creativity. It may suffocate our mind and spirit; drawing us into its madness.

Lost…

Ms Mandi Photo 1

Yesterday he left again. Sadly to say, I allow him to come and go at his leisure. This isn’t my intention; however, it is the result of my lack of courage to go on without him.

I figured it takes me about four weeks to fully recover from his presence, or more like his absence. Subsequently, this does not last long, for he always comes back to disrupt my sense of normalcy.

Once again, I am left to clean up the fragments of my dysfunctional life.

Halloween Fun

Halloween Fun…

Ms Mandi Photo 1

Do you remember as a kid, how excited you were to celebrate Halloween? It was a day filled with imagination and of course the prize…candy. School was the best…with the costumes, Halloween parade around the class rooms, and then all the treats filling your tummies with frosted cookies, punch and cupcakes.

However, somewhere over the years, Halloween became bad. I hear people say its the Devil’s day. Halloween is really short for “All Hallows Eve”, the day before All Saints Day on November 1…originating from Roman’s dedication to all Saints…coming from Christianity.

Not the Devil’s day at all…quite the contrary.

Let’s not ruin the fun for our children that we once had, before we became so cynical.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

Always Remembering 911

Always Remembering 911…

Ms Mandi Photo 1

September 11, 2001.  I remember the day as if it were yesterday.  I remember walking into my house around 8:30 am, turning on the television, and watching in horror as the second airplane crashed into the Twin Towers.

The thing that struck me most odd that morning was watching the individual white sheets of paper flutter around the streets of New York, thousands and thousands of paper.  I remembered thinking who had touched them, who had just recently stored them into the filing system, who was missing them?  It was an eerie thought to wonder about these thousands of sheets of papers coming from the Twin Towers.  I do not know why this particular image has stayed in my mind for all these years, but it has.  Perhaps my mind needed to fixate onto something less horrific than watching a city fall apart to an awful bout of terrorism.  The images we endured that day will forever be stuck in our minds.

September 11th is a very special and memorable day to my family and I because we named our second daughter after a Naval Contractor who had died on September 11th in the Pentagon.  We named her Julian Cooper.  She reminds us every year on 911 of the loss, we as individuals, families, and as a nation, had to endure on that fateful day fifteen years ago on September 11, 2001.

WE WILL NEVER FORGET!

Happy Birthday Mandi…I still miss you every day!

Mandi in Venice Beach 0994

Who really is Ask Ms Mandi? A picture says a thousand words. RIP Mandi September 2005. Mandi was my devoted, lovable, and faithful Staffordshire Bull Terrier.

We had 12 wonderful years with her before she passed away from jaw cancer. It was one of the hardest things to watch as our sweet dog starting dying in front of our eyes, knowing we could do nothing to save her.

I know, you’re probably thinking, a dog….. inspired you, but she did. My boyfriend at the time bought her for me when she was only 5 weeks old, we had to bottle feed her for the first couple weeks of her life. I guess you could say that she was our first-born; after all, she was bottle fed.

Subsequently, she was the cutest, fattest puppy that I had ever seen. She instantly became my heart. A dog’s love and devotion is unconditional, without judgement. Why wouldn’t she be my inspiration for this WEBSITE?

A Walk up Barrow Hill

A Walk up Barrow Hill…
Ms Mandi Photo 1

It’s 1692, Abigail reaches out for the wall…something to steady herself. She hasn’t eaten in days and the lack of nourishment is starting to have a negative effect on her. The child inside her belly stirs. The baby is hungry too.

Desperation and anxiety, grip her heart like a vice. She had made mistakes, but had always been a good woman. But lies seemed to be stronger than the truth.

After all, it had become a mass hysteria.

She heard her name called from just outside her cell door. The journey was about to begin. The walk up Barrow Hill.

Happily Ever After…

Happily ever after…

Ms Mandi Photo 1

I could still be married…

I could be laying next to my husband of twenty-nine years….I could not be alone.

I had the perfect life, planned out since I was six years old. After all, isn’t that what society teaches little girls…when you grow up, you will fall in love with your Prince Charming, just like Cinderella, get married, and live happily ever after in your big house, two kids, a dog, two cars, and the white picket fence.

As funny as it sounds, I had that life.

But the part they forgot to tell us, us little girls…is the part that what you see on the outside, isn’t always what is going on in the inside. Prince Charming is inattentive, neglectful, and flat-out mean. He hurts you in more ways than you would like to admit to anyone…including your self.

“But I love him!” You say. “And he loves me…doesn’t he?”

Then slowly, day by day, your fairy tale turns into a nightmare. He takes everything you have to give, leaving behind, only an empty shell. He took the best of you.

Like I said, I could be married, like my girlfriends who have been married just as long as I. Subsequently, I am the one who made the decision to get out…to live again. That is probably why it was such a hard decision because it was my decision…I didn’t want it to end, but I couldn’t live like that either….not anymore.
